Principal - Miss Josephine RAD RTS AAC1
Miss Jose began dancing at the age of 10 and quickly fell in love with the art. Joining Bathurst Academy of Dance in 2007, she began student teaching in 2009 as she completed her University Degree in Primary Education. During this time Miss Jose also completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies through the Royal Academy of Dance, gaining her qualifications as a Registered Teacher. She also holds a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and Teacher Certification with Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique. This is Miss Jose's eighth year as Principal of BAD. She will be teaching the Certificates in Dance, as well as coordinating our RAD Ballet program.
Principal - Miss Mikaela
Miss Mikaela began dancing at the age of 5 and has been a member of Bathurst Academy of Dance for over 15 years! She has completed a number of RAD Ballet exams, including Intermediate Foundation , and performed competitively as a soloist and troupe member in all genres of dance, in many eisteddfods and competitions. Miss Mikaela has received many awards including best Intermediate Dancer Award and the BAD Jemma Gordon Memorial Award for Excellence in Jazz and Hip Hop in 2016. Mikaela also received an outstanding high band for her HSC Dance and has completed a Certificate III in Dance. Miss Mikaela is currently studying her Diploma of Business Studies and is our administrations manager. She is the first point of contact in reception and the go-to person for all your queries.
Miss Amelia has been part of BAD for a number of years now both as a class teacher and our Soloist Coordinator. She has attained her Bachelor of Dance in Elite Performance from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) and is currently studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, a Certificate III in Disability focusing on Individual Support and a Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance. Trained in RAD Ballet, Miss Amelia has also studied all genres of dance including Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. Additionally, her studies include 3 years of practical and theory training in the importance of technique, safe dance practice and body anatomy. She has also attained teacher certification with Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique. She has held professional dance contracts internationally and even danced in a film clip with Will Smith!
Miss Nikita started dancing at the age of 3 and has danced with BAD since 2013. Nikita has performed as a valued member and lead dancer of our Eisteddfod performance troupe and her stage presence is second to none! She has completed a Certificate III in Dance and holds a Teacher Certification with Acrobatic Arts. Nikita has choreographed a number of outstanding routines from our End of Year Concerts that are raved about! In addition to teaching various dance classes, Miss Nikita is our Acrobatic Coordinator. We're excited to have her continue to share her expertise with our students.
Miss Lucinda has been dancing her whole life and recently finished studying at the Washington Ballet Company in the United States. Prior to this she studied at Tanya Pearson’s Classical Coaching Academy, The McDonald College and the Australian Ballet School Interstate Program. Lucinda has performed various roles with the Washington Ballet Company and Sydney's Premier State Ballet. She was also a quarter finalist in both the Sydney Eisteddfod and the Alana Haines Awards in Wellington, New Zealand. She is currently studying a K-12 Bachelor of Education. We are thrilled have Miss Lucinda with us again this year.
Miss Mikayla began dancing at the age of 3 and this will be her 16th year at Bathurst Academy of Dance, making her one of our longest standing members! She has completed up to and including Advanced Foundation in RAD ballet exams. Mikayla has had the opportunity to compete competitively as a member of troupe, as well as a soloist. Some of her major achievements include the Senior Dancer of the Year in 2016, the 2017 Ballet Scholarship and in 2019 the Excellence in Lyrical and Contemporary. In 2018/2019 she furthered her knowledge of dance by completing her Certificate III in Dance. Miss Mikayla has also completed all 4 levels of the Dance Steps program. We are excited to have her back teaching with us once again.
Miss Amy has danced for many years and joined Bathurst Academy of Dance in 2017. Since then she has competed in numerous Eisteddfods as a troupe member, duet partner and soloist. Some of her major achievements include winning the Bathurst Academy of Dance Senior Dancer of the Year in 2018 and the Jemma Gordon Memorial Award for Excellence in Jazz and Hip Hop in 2019. She has furthered her knowledge in dance by completing all four levels of DanceSteps and in 2020/2021, her Certificate III in Dance. After a wonderful year teaching in 2021, Miss Amy has moved into the role of our Junior Admin and Social Media Coordinator. She’s very excited to explore this new role and we are thrilled to have her as a member of our BAD staff again this year.
Miss Grace has been dancing since the age of 3, she has been trained in RAD Ballet and has competed around the region in competitions as both a soloist and in troupes. She has won numerous tap championship titles during her time performing.Miss Grace owned and was lead choreographer for her own studio where she choreographed numerous solo and troupe routines for Eisteddfods, Community and Charity events for a number of years, before taking a break to focus on family. She is excited to be back teaching this year and her favourite genres of dance are Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre.
Miss Sami started dancing at a young age at Cowra Ballet School and immediately fell in love. She has competed in multiple Eisteddfods as a soloist, trio and group member. Miss Sami has also travelled to America and danced at Universal Studios and Disney World and participated in dance workshops at Alvin Ailey and Broadway Dance Center. She has also completed her Acrobatic arts exams. Miss Sami can’t wait to share her love of dance with the students at BAD this year.
Miss Amanda began dancing when she was just 3 years old and instantly fell in love. She came to BAD in 2012 and since then has competed in Eisteddfods for the studio and most recently, received the 2021 Senior Dancer of the Year. In 2019 Amanda joined the DanceStep program and in 2020/2021 she completed her Certificate III in Dance. Miss Amanda’s favourite genre is Modern/Contemporary and she cannot wait to share her love for dancing with others this year as a Junior Staff Member.
Miss Ash started dancing at the age of 4 and quickly fell in love with the art of dance, ballet especially. 2022 will be her 12th year at Bathurst Academy of Dance dancing and her first year as a junior staff member. Miss Ash has trained in many genres including jazz, hip hop, lyrical/contemporary and acro, but focuses most on Classical Ballet. Miss Ash has completed many RAD ballet exams from PPID to Intermediate Ballet. Ash has also competed competitively for the studio as a member of troupe, a soloist and a duet partner. Some of her major achievements include the Tots Dancer of the Year in 2012 and the Ballet Scholarship recipient in 2019. Miss Ash has completed Level 1 to Level 4 of the Dance Step program throughout the last 2 years, as well as currently studying the Certificate III in Dance course in 2021/2022. She is looking forward to being a junior teacher this year and spreading the love of dance.
Miss Antonia started dancing at a young age, but her passion was shown truly when she joined Bathurst Academy of Dance in 2016. During her journey, she has been able to compete in troupe competition teams and was able to travel to many Eisteddfods. She has also performed as a soloist and a duet partner. A major award for her was winning the Pre-Senior Dancer of the Year in 2018. Miss Antonia is currently completing her Certificate III in Dance and has completed the DanceSTEP assistant program. She is excited to join BAD this year not only as a student, but also as a Junior Staff Member.
Miss Emma was an aspiring ballet teacher from day one, with her ballet teachers always standing out as her number 1 idols, she had her heart set on imparting her knowledge onto future ballerinas. With this in mind, Miss Emma has experience in a variety of ballet and dance syllabi, styles and schools.
She has completed her RAD ballet exams, before then being introduced to Cecchetti ballet.
In 2010, Miss Emma was accepted into the full time ballet and contemporary program at The Lagat School of Dance in Sussex, England.
In 2014, she then proceeded onto University completing a Bachelor of Event Management. During this time she began her Cecchetti Associate studies, completing her qualifying exam in 2018. Miss Emma has implemented Cecchetti Ballet syllabi into two schools, managed two schools, and managed Marketing and Social Media Marketing for both dance schools and other workplaces.
Miss Emma has joined our admin team and is already a valued member of the BAD staff, we can't wait to see the great additions she will make to the studio.
